OUR Careers Curriculum

Preparing students for life after GCSE’s is a primary mission for the academy.

Whether your child chooses to continue in education, studying A-levels or other vocational courses at college, or decides on pursuing an apprenticeship route, we at Ibstock School are passionate in ensuring your child is able to make the right decision for them.

Throughout their time at school students are given a whole host of opportunities to learn more about the options available to them after they have completed their GCSE’s. We ensure that all students are supported when they consider their options towards the end of Year 9 and provide further independent and impartial careers information, advice and guidance in Years 10 and 11.

All years receive a full programme of careers education delivered during fortnightly PSHE lessons, tutor time and potential future careers are explored during regular timetabled lessons through class activities, school trips and guest speakers.

Launching OUR Future

Year 10 Work Experience: Monday 11th May – Friday 15th May 2026

We are thrilled to officially launch the Year 10 Work Experience Programme for 2026! At Ibstock, our mission is “inspiring our community to thrive,” and there is no better way to thrive than by stepping into the world of work to explore your passions.

This week is a cornerstone of our careers provision. It is designed to raise aspirations and provide our students with the Opportunity to gain a deeper Understanding of the professional world while taking Responsibility for their own future career paths.

Why this matters now:

  • Strategic Decisions: This experience will directly support students as they make their vital Post-16 and College decisions in Year 11.
  • Building a Portfolio: All students will document their journey and the skills they gain on our Aspires platform, creating a digital record of achievement to use in future interviews.
  • Real-World Skills: From communication to problem-solving, students will build the “employability” skills that top businesses look for.

The Hunt is On! Students are encouraged to be proactive in finding a placement that excites them. Whether it’s in a high-tech lab, a creative studio, or a local business, this is the time to see where your subjects can take you.
