Dear Families of Year 7 Students,

We hope that your child has enjoyed their first half term at Ibstock School. Two of the most important factors in success at school are attendance and attitude to learning – how your child engages in learning in the classroom.

At this stage in Year 7, we provide this information for you to discuss with your child and their CREW leader. Later in the year, you will receive a report about their progress and the opportunity to meet their subject teachers.

Your child’s settling in report is available to view on the Arbor App under Report cards. For each subject, your child has been awarded an ‘Attitude to Learning’ grade by their teacher to give an indication of how they are working in lessons. Mrs Langston, Science teacher, is currently absent due to illness, so your child will have no attitude to learning for the time being. This can be remedied when she returns.

Our ‘Standard Learner Expectations’ are what we would expect from students in lessons in order to make progress. Some students may go above and beyond this as ‘Independent’ or ‘Leading’ learners. The criteria for the 5 categories of Attitude to Learning are shown below.

If you have booked an appointment for our Year 7 settling in evening on Thursday 16th October, there will be the opportunity to discuss this report and how your child has settled in to KS3.

Kind regards,
Sarah Nelson
Assistant Headteacher
