Dear Year 11 Parents and Carers,

I hope this message finds you well and that your child is looking forward to a well-deserved restful and relaxing holiday following their Pre-Public Exams.

It has been a pleasure to witness the hard work, dedication, and growth that Year 11 have shown so far this year. With exams just around the corner, this next half-term will be crucial in setting your child up for success. There’s still time to revise, practice, and push forward, and I have no doubt that the hard work will pay off. Resilience is key—sometimes the road ahead may feel tough, but with your support, they will be able to meet any challenge head-on. Now is the time for them to stay focused, stay positive, and keep working to the best of their ability.

With this in mind, I wanted to remind you of the after- school support opportunities and also to tell you about OUR Prom Prizes – just one way that we want to recognise Year 11’s hard work and dedication.

After-school opportunities

Intervention sessions – a new programme of focused after-school intervention sessions will start on Monday 24th February. Teachers have selected students that they feel would particularly benefit from these sessions. These students will receive an email inviting them to attend specific subjects. We strongly encourage students to attend, as it could make all the difference to their final grades.

Year 11 Study Zone – the library has a specific area where Year 11 students can complete independent revision each day after school until 4.15p.m. With exam papers, revision guides, computers and Ms Davies on hand to support, this is an ideal area for getting work done before they go home.

OUR Prom Prizes

Full details of the prom will be shared by the pastoral team next half term. But in the meantime… We really want to celebrate the hard work students put in to preparing for the exams and the culmination of their learning at Ibstock School, and so I’m pleased to share some fantastic opportunities to earn entries into a prize draw, where students can win Prom Prizes.

How students can earn entries into the prize draw:

1 entry for each of the following:

  • Every intervention session a student attends OR up to 3 hours of targeted revision per week (evidenced to their form tutor if they can’t attend after school) next half term
  • Every logged hour of revision in the library next half term

5 entries for the following:

  • Achieving 90%+ attendance over the next 7-week period (or for the year to date, whichever is highest).

The prizes up for grabs include:

  • The full price of their prom ticket
  • 50% of their prom ticket
  • 30% of their prom ticket
  • Gift vouchers to help make their prom memorable

This is a great opportunity to not only make sure they are fully prepared for their exams but also to give them the chance to win something special for prom. Please encourage your child to take full advantage of these chances to earn entries and finish the year strong.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Best wishes,

Miss Nelson
