Dear Parents and Carers,
It is with regret that I am writing to inform you that we have made the difficult decision to postpone our Pride event, scheduled for Friday 26 June 2026.
Whilst earlier forecasts suggested temperatures would begin to fall; the latest weather predictions indicate that conditions will become even warmer. Despite exploring several adaptations, we do not believe it would be safe to proceed with the event. As always, the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff must come first.
I appreciate that many students were looking forward to the day and thank you for your understanding and support.
I would also like to thank parents and carers for their support this week with attendance, uniform arrangements and ensuring that students arrive at school prepared for the hot weather.
Key information for families
- Pride Event (Friday 26 June 2026): Due to the forecast temperatures and weather conditions, we have taken the decision to postpone the event. We are currently exploring arrangements to reschedule it during the final week of term.
- Friday Uniform: Students may continue to wear their PE kit.
- Until the end of term: Students may leave blazers, jumpers and ties at home if they wish. However, students must continue to wear grey trousers or a school skirt and a white shirt in line with our uniform policy.
- Hydration: Students will continue to be given opportunities to refill water bottles and access drinking water throughout the school day. Please remind your child that water should be used responsibly and that behaviour around water should always remain appropriate.
- Warm weather safety: Please encourage your child to stay hydrated, use sun protection and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during the hottest parts of the day.
- Open water safety: We would also ask families to remind students of the dangers associated with open water, including lakes, rivers, reservoirs and quarries. Whilst these may appear attractive during hot weather, they present significant hidden risks and should be approached with great caution.
As outlined in earlier correspondence, we are working to rearrange the events postponed this week, including both Sports Day and Pride, during the final week of term. Further details will be shared as soon as arrangements have been confirmed.
Thank you once again for your continued support throughout the year. It has been a successful and rewarding year for our students, and we are grateful for the strong partnership we share with our families. I will be in touch again before the end of term with our final parent bulletin/Ibstock Insights.
Yours faithfully,
Ben White
Head of School
