Dear Parents/Carers,
The government has introduced new relationships and sex education (RSE) and health education guidance, that we are required to follow from 1st September 2026. You can find a useful summary of the key updates from The PSHE Association here: RSHE guidance 2025: What you need to know The Association was established as the official national PSHE subject body by the Department of Education in 2007.
Because of this, we are consulting with parents/carers, students and staff to make sure our new curriculum meets the government’s requirements, as well as the needs of all our students.
We’ve worked hard to make sure that our new curriculum reflects:
- Our students’ ages and developmental stages, as well as their physical and emotional maturity and cultural and religious backgrounds
- Every student’s learning needs, including the needs of any students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
- Our school’s vision and values
- What students need to know to be healthy and safe in school, in their personal relationships and in the wider world
We have now updated our RSE policy to include our proposed new curriculum (Appendix 1) based on this update to the Guidance. You will find a copy of our new draft policy attached to this email, along with a copy of the updated RSE Guidance from the Department for Education.
We would welcome your feedback on the proposed RSE curriculum, which is delivered through Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education, and the draft policy.
Please submit your feedback by completing the Microsoft Form here:
The deadline for responding to this consultation is Friday 15th May 2026.
We will continue engaging with you on our curriculum and policy all year round, after we have published the finished policy. We will let you know more soon about how we plan to do this.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs. L. Barratt
Associate Senior Leader
Faculty Leader for Humanities and PSHE
