OUR Careers Curriculum

Preparing students for life after GCSE’s is a primary mission for the academy.

Whether your child chooses to continue in education, studying A-levels or other vocational courses at college, or decides on pursuing an apprenticeship route, we at Ibstock School are passionate in ensuring your child is able to make the right decision for them.

Throughout their time at school students are given a whole host of opportunities to learn more about the options available to them after they have completed their GCSE’s. We ensure that all students are supported when they consider their options towards the end of Year 9 and provide further independent and impartial careers information, advice and guidance in Years 10 and 11.

All years receive a full programme of careers education delivered during fortnightly PSHE lessons, tutor time and potential future careers are explored during regular timetabled lessons through class activities, school trips and guest speakers.

Year 10 work experience will commence in June 2025. This will be workplace visits to local companies Ibstock Brick and VFC Logisitics. Students will have the opportunity to visit one of the companies to see what a day in the life of someone in work looks like. They will visit different departments of the company, meet and talk to people within the different roles.

Students visiting VFC Logistics will take part in a project both at the company and within school after the visit. Students visiting Ibstock Brick will be touring around a company with great influence in our local community and nationwide producing over 95 million bricks per year!
