September 2025

Dear Parent/Carer,

Over the next two years, your son/daughter will be preparing for two GCSEs in English Language and English Literature. To aid them in their study, we would like them to purchase the texts they need for the GCSE Literature exam so they can annotate them as we study each one, creating valuable revision notes as they progress through this course.

Should you wish to purchase these from elsewhere, the ISBN numbers of the specific versions we use are above and a poetry text will be issued to all students, free of charge. These books will be on sale on ParentPay and the books will be issued to the students via their English Teacher when they start studying each text in Year 10. We will give the texts out as we use them to students who have paid via ParentPay.

If your child has a family member who has these texts already, then of course they are able to use them and secondhand ones can be bought online too. Please be aware that we have moved to studying Macbeth in Year 10 whereas we have studied Romeo and Juliet in previous years.

Texts are usually kept by their English teacher in the classroom until the end of Year 11 when students can take the texts home for revision purposes.

There are some ‘dyslexia friendly’ editions of all the above texts available from Amazon. Please do consider purchasing these instead if you feel they will be suitable for your child. They will likely have different page numbers to the editions we will be using in class, which is something you may wish to consider before purchasing.

Orders will be placed on the 17th September so please ensure that you have paid on ParentPay before this date. We will not place another order after this date as the prices may change.

Thank you in anticipation of your support with this. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me on s.moore@ibstockschool.co.uk or contact your child’s English Teacher directly. The same applies if you require some support with the payment.

Kind Regards,

Sam Moore
